The Cal Athletics Development Office needed a full stationery set for the 2017 Men’s Basketball banquet. The set was to include a save-the-date (print and email), invitation, envelope, thank you note, and event program. The client came to me with a theme in mind: “Suit Up for Cal Basketball” and wanted the set to look fancy and high-end since these would be going out to high-level donors. They also had two ideas in mind for the design - a “star” design and a “tie” design.
I created mock ups of both the star and tie designs and we decided to pursue the the tie version. I then proceeded to create the invitation, print save-the-date, and program cover with similar designs. I also used the slogan “Suit Up for Cal Basketball” on the email save the date but also included a related photographic image to give the email more excitement.
Overall, every piece of the set has the same theme and style and can easily viewed as one large project when viewed together. The save the dates and invitations will be sent out to hundreds of Cal Athletics donors with the hopes of raising thousands of dollars. I created the stationery set in a refined, classy style to reflect these goals.

Emails are a key part of every brand’s marketing to improve their reach, visibility, and attract customers. When designing an email, it’s important to tell the story both visually and textually so that the reader is intrigued and wants to strengthen their relationship with the company. My email design process starts with a goal/idea followed by writing copy. After that it’s time to turn the copy into visually compelling art through layout, images, and graphics. The copy can be altered during this process to create the best possible email.
